Airstreaming across the U.S.

Current Location: Belivere, Il hanging out at my friend Peggy’s house for a respite from the  road.

We hit the road!

MAY 29th 2021

COMPLETED: May 29th-31st 2 nights Boondocking Awesome time dancing and partying with friends. Memorial Day weekend with friends in the back lot of the Dorrington Hotel, off Highway 4 in the Sierra Foothills.

COMPLETED: Monday Memorial Day May 31st Leave Dorrington drive 2 hrs via 88 over the Carson Pass at 8200 feet in the El Dorado Wilderness to Bear River Lake Resort.

June 1st - 4th

COMPLETED: Tuesday June 1st Leave Bear River Resort to Heidi’s House in Truckee, via Highway 88 to 50 to 89 on the West Side of Lake Tahoe.

COMPLETED: WED/THURS: June 2nd & 3rd
From Truckee we drove thru Reno and then up Rt 395. Spent 2 nights at Sullys RV Park, Altruas, CA. Wonderful green grass and shaded RV park. Lots of birds and wildlife refuge with the Pit River flowing. Also a wonderful local historical museum all about the emigrant trail and the people who settled here, fascinating stuff.

June 4th - 5th

FRI: June 4th,
COMPLETED: Drive 3 hrs 15 min 194 miles to 1 night at Burns RV Park, 1273 Seneca Dr, Burns, OR. Drove over 100 miles on 395 without seeing any towns, or ranches or gas stations. Just a few herds of range cattle and lots of miles of sagebrush and desert. SouthEast Oregon is very dry!

COMPLETED: Stopped in Caldwell Idaho at the Airstream Dealer so  they could fix my noisy AC, which they did AND they washed my Airstream too all for free, gotta love that!

SAT: June 5th
COMPLETED: Drove to Harvest Host Cold Springs Winery 7853 West Ringert Lane Hammett, ID 83627. Did some wine tasting  tonight, bought 4 bottles for when Preston & Robert show up in  a couple weeks. Listening to the crazy winds blowing thru tonite. We are way out here in the middle of nowhere and I love it!

June 6-10th

SUN: June 6th
COMPLETED: Drive 30 min to Harvest Host  Kraay’s Market & Garden, 171 Schoessler Ln Bellevue, ID 83313, just outside of Craters of the Moon  National park. LOVED THIS PLACE! Got to harvest veggies from their greenhouse, lots of horses, goats and chickens running around.

COMPLETED: MON: June 7th
Stopped at Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve. Staying at Mountain View RV Park, full hookups.

COMPLETED: TUES/WED: June 8th-10th 
RIVERSIDE Boondocking Dispersed Camping, ID – TARGHEE Wilderness. Beautiful wooded camping spots nestled along the Henry’s Fork Trout Stream. Great to watch to fly fishers.
We explored the some of the 3 Millions acres of Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Visited Mesa Falls via the Mesa Falls Scenic ByWay out of Ashton, ID 83420.

June 10 - 15th

COMPLETED: THURSDAY June 10
Jill & Billie joined us at Henry’s Lake in Idaho, Electric only. Henrys Lake is a small, shallow alpine lake in the western United States, in eastern Idaho. Approximately 8 square miles in area, its surface elevation is 6,472 ft above sea level.

Rainy & cold when we checked in today but it’s supposed to clear by tomorrow and be nice again.

COMPLETED: FRIDAY June 11th Cold but clear. We ventured into Yellowstone today to see Old Faithful, Fountain Paint Pots,  West Thumbs bubbling cauldrons of sulfur and mud, Abyss Pool, Lower Geyser Pools, Underwater geysers and Yellowstone Lake. Very amazing wonderful natural wild place I can’t believe I’ve never been here! Loved it!
Situated at 7,733 feet above sea level, Yellowstone Lake is the largest high elevation lake in North America. Yellowstone Lake has the largest population of wild cutthroat trout in North America. How a Pacific Ocean fish was trapped in a lake that drains to the Atlantic puzzled experts for years.
Underwater geysers, hot springs, and fumaroles were found at West Thumb and Mary and Sedge Bays. The hottest spot in the lake was found at Mary Bay where the temperature was recorded at 252°F (122°C).
COMPLETED: SAT: June 12th Rest day stayed at Henry’s Lake camp, did a 4 mile hike thru the aspen grooves with Jill and the pups.
COMPLETED: Sunday: June 13th Drove the back dirt roads to Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, 27650B S Valley Rd, Lima, MT 59739, saw several Pronghorn Antelope. This is a remote refuge located in the high altitude of the Centennial Valley, in the southwestern region of the U.S. state of Montana. The refuge is an integral part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Red Rock Lakes is best known for being the primary location for the efforts saving the trumpeter swan from extinction.
COMPLETED: Monday: June 14th Meeting and work in a.m. drove back into Yellowstone around 2pm stopped at the FireHole Waterfall and went wading in the Madison river with the pups. Windy!
COMPLETED: Tues June 15th: Early morning went Kayaking & foraging in the swamp on Henry’s Lake, then Rest day, very windy & HOT. Glad my AC works!

June 16-20th

COMPLETED: WED: June 16th -19th
June 16th Leave Henry’s Lake. Drive 3 hrs to Fireside Resort Buffalo Valley. 3 nights with full hookups.

Located at the entrance of  Grand Teton National Park, the Buffalo Valley RV Park is  just a short drive from the south entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Located just 1 mile east of Grand Teton National Park border, just 6 miles east of Moran Junction gate. You will be camping only 32 miles from Yellowstone National Park and 36 miles north of the town of Jackson. Enjoy views of the majestic Teton mountains from most of our campsites.

Sunday Robert & Preston fly into Idaho Falls drive to Jackson to pick up their Sprinter Van!

June 21st-27th

COMPLETED MON/ TUES: June 21st-22nd
Meet Preston & Robert for 2 Nights @ Trail Creek Campground outside of Victor, Idaho. Alongside Highway 22 which goes over the Teton Pass.

COMPLETED TUES: June 21st
Board the pups with Ashby from Rover and go into Grand Tetons Park for the day. We took the shuttle boat over Jenny Lake to the hiking spot, up to Hidden Lake, Inspiration Pt and up to the beginning of Cascade Canyon.

COMPLETED WED-SUN: June 22-27th Dry camping, no water or Electric, but beautiful shaded, lots of quaking aspens and very quiet at Fromme County Park on the west side of Henry’s Lake with Robert & Preston. $15/nite.

COMPLETED SAT-SUN: June 26-27th
Sat Preston & Robert fly out, I stay at Frome Park for 1 more night.

COMPLETED SUN: June 27th
Drive North thru Bozeman, MT to Livingston for 1 nite at Osens Rv Park, Livingston,  MT http://www.montanarvpark.com/ Full Hookups, $61/nite

 

June 28th - July 6th

3 nights  @ Perry’s RV Park in Red Lodge, MT, camping along Rock Creek on The Beartooth Highway 212. Met Annie and Kent in their custom Flying Cloud 25FB.
COMPLETED: Tues June 29th Drive down to BearTooth Highway 212 , the “Most scenic highway in America”.
COMPLETED: July 1st Thursday A.M. leave for Green Oasis Campground, 540 12th Ave North, Greybull, WY 82426, 1 night Full hookups. Small camp stopover.
Fri Jul 2, 2021 – Mon Jul 5, 2021, Dead Swede Campground, Big Horn National Forest 019, LOOP B( STANDARD NONELECTRIC ) Dry Camping, $70 for 3 nights
July 5th MON: Harvest Host, Sage Mill Alpaca Farm: 239 Thompson Creek Rd Clearmont, WY 82835

July 6-8th – 2 nights at Devils Tower KOA – 60 Highway 110 Devils Tower, WY 82714-0100

go  down thru Detroit &  Ohio and into New York.

in Stillwater, New York with My Family

I’d like to come back thru Yellowstone this fall if I can before the snows and see the Grand Prismatic Pool and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the Lamar Valley full of wild animals.
